River water quality
Project
Renovation and extension of a high-capacity lock on the Seine River (ca. 35 miles downstream West from Paris).
Duration : 43 months
Challenges
Ensure the operation doesn’t impact the quality of the waterway. Distinguish between pollution present in the river upstream of the works and that caused by the works on the site. Ensure the initial state of the water (temperature, acidity, oxygen, turbidity…) due to normal operation of the lock isn’t mistaken for pollution caused by the operation.
Need: monitor water quality
UBY Environment solution
We installed water quality sensors attached to buoys, anchored to the river bed upstream and downstream from the operation.
The water was analysed in a laboratory to have a reading of the initial composition.
The UBY Environment platform is set up to send alerts in case set thresholds are exceeded during longer periods.
